Temple Open House: When a newly constructed temple has been finished, it is open to the public and ANYONE may go in and see what it is like inside. An Open House usually lasts for several weeks. Then when the Open House ends, they re-clean, and re-carpet (as needed) or anything else to make it perfect again, and it is then dedicated to the Lord. After which, you need to be a member of the LDS church with a temple recommend to go inside.

When I was a little girl, I remember going to the Boise, ID Temple Open House
[a couple of years later]We took our family to the new Draper, UT Temple Open House.
I was full of emotion several times, with my family there.
I wanted to have a picture of me with my boys outside the temple,
to go with the picture I have of me with my Mom and her girls.
If you have ever wondered what its like in a temple,
next time they have a temple open house in your area, GO!

I went to the Boise Idaho temple open house too!!! That is so funny. It is truly a small world...
