Who's That Kid...

Licking out the Creamy Middle?

Its a good thing he's so little!

Reason's why his mother would let him get away with eating the cream off a pile of cookies:
Reason #1
He is on a diet high in fat
True:
This is my second child, who has been strongly encouraged to get some fat. Apparently, fat is very important for the developing mind and organs of the body.
Butter, french fries, ice cream.
Unfortunately, J does not always appreciate his fatty laden meals.
He will hand the peanut butter and butter sandwiches and cheetos back to me and would rather have yogurt or applesauce.
So, I figured if the kid was happy eating the cream out of the cookies,
let him.
Wish it were me.
Reason #2
If he doesn't eat them,
I will.
True.

Up and At 'Em

{At Last!}

B walked at about 13 months.

C walked at 12 months.

J, 17 months!

[Mercy! Its about time!]

Just decided to start truckin' it yesterday.

I was having visions of him crawling to Kindergarten!

How I spent My Weekend

[primed and trimmed]

Painting

and

a Play
This was the last major area in my home that I've needed to paint. It's been on my to-do list for 2 years now! It's my upstairs hallway and stair well.
It was a beast.
It took two rolls of tape,
with all the trimming (which also got a new coat of paint!) and more hours than any other area I've done in this joint! I thought since it was such a small area, it would go relatively fast. Dreams.
Done at Last.

To Cheer & To Bless

In March we always celebrate the Relief Society's Birthday -
from when it was organized over 100 years ago.
My calling in our ward is the Enrichment Leader.
(remember this and this?)
with the help of the helpful and dutiful friends on the Enrichment Committee, look what we were able to do!

Our theme:

{To Cheer and To Bless}

We went for the pioneer look and everyone just brought what we had-

Here are some of our fun tables.

All the ladies signed-up to bring stew or soup or chili
and for dessert we got to gobble warm pies and cobblers!
All the Young Women (12yr. and older) were also invited and it was fun to have them!
We had a few short speakers that did amazing.
Then we went to work
Our goal was to get enough donations-
(again, everyone signed up to donate what they could)
What was awesome?
They donated enough for us to do 75 Hygiene Kits!
I wish I would of taken pictures of the tables piled high with all the clean smelling soaps, the stacks of folded towels, and the toothbrushes, and combs!
That was an awesome sight!
Then everyone got her own jar

to fill with cream

and make butter!

[shaking it into butter!]

I Loved the whole evening and had so much fun!

It was so well attended!

But, my favorite part was the picture above.

All the ladies standing around,

Laughing and Talking,

Friends

and Sisters.

I Love to See the Temple

Temple Open House: When a newly constructed temple has been finished, it is open to the public and ANYONE may go in and see what it is like inside. An Open House usually lasts for several weeks. Then when the Open House ends, they re-clean, and re-carpet (as needed) or anything else to make it perfect again, and it is then dedicated to the Lord. After which, you need to be a member of the LDS church with a temple recommend to go inside.

[a picture of that day many years ago.

I think I am the twin closest to my mom]

When I was a little girl, I remember going to the Boise, ID Temple Open House

[a couple of years later]

We took our family to the new Draper, UT Temple Open House.

I was full of emotion several times, with my family there.

I wanted to have a picture of me with my boys outside the temple,

to go with the picture I have of me with my Mom and her girls.

If you have ever wondered what its like in a temple,

next time they have a temple open house in your area, GO!

Lucky Me!

I've never been to a concert
lame, huh?
I never really wanted to.
But, then I heard
that someone,
who has some songs that
I like to jig to,
was coming to concert.
I dropped some hints.
But didn't think they were
going through.
So, I decided to take matters
into my own hands.
I called to make some clarifications,
with my Sweets
before I emptied my account.
Sweets said,
"Don't buy those tickets!"
"You're already going!"
Lucky Me

Cheers Mucker!

[enjoying our green pancakes, green eggs and green milk]

Happy St. Patty's Day!

[our cookies, before we went to bed]

When we got up this morning, most of the yummy cookies we made, had leprechaun looking bites taken out of them!

There was a trail of green candy leading from our bedrooms, to the cookies. Though some of the candies were just wrappers!

There have been a lot of leprechaun tricks around here!

Look!

I See One!

An I {Heart} Moment

Just as we finished dinner tonight, my 4 yr. old was playing around and got hurt. As he sobbed, he sought refuge under the table. My 16 month old was sitting on my lap, and let me know that he wanted down. He crawled under the table and crouched down so he could see his brother's sad face. He then continued to pat his back and head and snuggle into his lap.
My favorite part:
When he kept trying to hug his brother, but he kept putting his arms around his own neck and hugging himself.
Melt My {Heart} Moment.
They do exist.

Tidbits

Have you ever read Birthday Monsters by Sandra Boynton?
Its a favorite at our house. Though we don't own the book, we've checked it out several times and we DO have it memorized.
There is a line in the book that goes like this:
"...and use your breakfast as confetti!"
Truthfully something that I always thought sounded like oodles of fun.
Then we lived it.
In Sunday School.
J grabbed his goodie bag of fruitloops and cheerios out of the diaper bag.
I could tell it was a wee bit open.
I tried to get it quickly from him.
He grabbed harder than I and there it went.
Or shall I say, there the contents of the bag went.
Like confetti.
Up, up, up.
Circles of all colors rained down on the first two rows.
Lots of suppressed laughter all around.
Lots of help cleaning it up.
Lots of, "Been there!"
Even as we were getting it rained in (see the pun),
I couldn't help but think about that line from that book, and I smiled.
*
The other night we were playing MarioKart.
Truth be told, I don't spend a lot of time playing video games. (shock, I know)
C: "Mom, you're terrible at this game."
Mom: "Gee, thanks, C"
C: " YOUR WELCOME"
*
The other day Ryan was cleaning some things up, and grabbed one in a sharp place
Dad: "Yikes! That was sharp!!"
C: after picking up another one, "Here Dad. Here is another YikerSharp, careful"
*
I was speaking to C the other day and called him Honey.
C: "Don't call me Honey, it freaks me out"
Mom: "Why?"
C: "Cause that's what you call Dad"
*
I was showing C a picture of his ultrasound when I was pregnant with him.
He said, "You had to be careful when you ate so the food didn't fall on me, huh."
