PS -I'm Still Running.
Ran a Total of 25 Miles for the Month of May.
I've NEVER Run that Much In My Life.

Memorial Day
For Memorial Day,
We have a Few of Traditions,
That we Typically Stick with;
Flag Ceremony.
This year, B Led us Through a Book
he had made a School,
Telling about the Pledge of Allegiance.
We Always Visit the Cemetery.
We DON'T Have any Kin
Who are Buried Round where We Live,
But We like to Purchase a Bundle of Flowers,
Divide it among the Boys,
Head out to the Cemetery,
and
Let them find Graves,
that Have No Flowers on
and They Can Leave a Flower for Them.
C Always looks for People
who have Served in the Armed Forces,
and B Always Looks for
Babies or Young Kids.
We Read a lot of Grave Stones,
and to be Honest,
Sometimes the Sentiments
Written on them,
Choke Me Up.

We Also Try to Clear the Grave Stone Off.

{Apparently, Blowing on it is the Preferred Method}.

And Then Among the Other Ins and Outs

of the Day,

We Like to Have a Lil'

Backyard BBQ.

Tonight's BBQ Was Followed by

Shooting Hoops,

a Rousing Game of Dodge Ball,

and Getting Our Patriotic Boogie On,

to

Neal Diamond's Coming to America.

Nacho Night

May 28. 2010
Feature Film: The Spy Next Door
Activities:
Stuffing Guts with Nachos.
Then:
Break Out the Tae Kwon Do Moves,
and Use Them On Your Brother.
Then Get Too Rough.
Then Tears.
The End.

The Truth

7 yr. Old B was telling his Pa that
Pa should shave the beard that Pa had proudly been working on
for a Day or Two.
Says B, "Dad, You Look Really Ugly with That Beard."
Says Pa Sarcastically, "Really?"
"Hmm.. Why Don't You Tell Me How You REALLY Feel"
Says B,
"Dad. I JUST Did."

The Owner's Manual

7 Yr. Old was Making a Book Mark.
Said he was Writing INSTRUCTIONS on it.
Good.
I Always Have THE Hardest Time Figuring Out
How Those Things
Are Supposed to Work.

College

5 Yr. Old C Told Me He Knew What He Wanted to Go to College For.
To Work at Subway.
Because He Thought Their Food was Heavenly.
I don't Know Which I'm MORE Shocked at;
That You have to Go to College for That,
or That He Would Turn His Back
on the Family Business
Like That.

Mother's Day

Shopping. Alone.

Breakfast in Bed,

and

Grilled Salmon:

Lovely.

But,

My Favorite Part?

All the Times Today, My Husband

Looked at Me with

"Seriously?!"

Written on His Face,

And I Smiled,

And Whispered,

"Welcome to MY Life".

Thanks, Honey.

What I Learned

From My MOM
Just a Few Things, Among Many:
Always Say Thank You.
From the Lady at the Checkout Counter,
to the Person who Refills Your Water Cup.
Always Thank Them for Their Time.
*
Respect My Elders
*
Manners:
Little Ladies Should Act Like Little Ladies.
*
No Singing At the Table
Though at My Own House,
I Allow It.
Perhaps Even, Encourage it.
*
Work Before Play
*
Do it Right the First Time
and
Stick With It Till Its Done.
*
Put a Smile On Your Face,
and
Grin and Bear It.
*
And Her Favorite Saying?
"Why Buy the Cow When the Milk is Free?"
She WASN'T Talking about
Free Milk.
*
Her Scare Tactics That
Worked:
If You End Up In Jail,
Do Not Call Me.
I Will NOT Come Get You.
*
If You Get Pregnant,
A. I'm Not Raising You or It
B. It Hurts Like Hell Coming Out.
*
[moving on......]
How to Balance a Check Book
and Pay Bills
*
Everything Looks Better
In Three Days
*
Family Loyalty
*
Don't Give Up
*
Make a Plan/Make a List
*
and
PRAY.
Wow.
You Taught Me a Lot
of Good Things, Mom.
Happy Mother's Day.
I Love You,
Jeralyn

I'm Still New

To This Running Thing.
Today was the 4th Day I Ran.
I made it 2.33 Miles and felt I could Go No More.
What a Wimp,
Huh?
I Felt Like I Could Puke Something Wonderfully,
Though.
Does That Count for Anything?

Today

I Had Some Guests in My Popcorn Tree.

And Because It was 6:30AM

and I Was Stalling My

2 MILE Run,

I Took a Picture.

And Gave Them Names.

Then Did My Run.

The First Part was Yucky.

At Every Turn,

I wanted to GO HOME.

Then Came My Favorite Part of the Route.

I Think I shall Call it

"The Secret Garden" Part.

Because its along a High Wall

with Vines and Flowers Growing Down It,

and The Other side is Lined with Trees,

And I always Run Faster along Here.

Because I Love It!

And Then I Turned into the Sun Rise

and Loved It, too!

But then the Home Stretch Got Harder.

So I checked out that Shadow Running with Me.

It was a Nice, though Lop-Sided Conversation.

Apparently, They're Not Much for Talking as They Run.

Oh-Well.

Looking Forward to TONIGHT:

Book Club

A True Story.

Politics, History, and Russian Maffia To Boot.

I AM NOT

a RUNNER.
So I Always Said.
I HATE Running.
But I Have WorkedOut Five Days a Week,
For Several Years,
and Decided To Give it a Shot.
And On Saturday,
I RAN.
and it Wasn't Bad.
I Ran 1.67 miles,
in the Cool Rain,
and I LOVED it.
Today.
I Ran.
2 Miles.

I Believe I'm Owed MORE Rent Money.

Nacho Night

Sending his Water Cup Exploding Everywhere,
Just As We got all Settled In for The Evening's Feature Film.

The Kids Desired to Watch:

IMAX Under The Sea

and After about 30 Mins
They Decided
They'd Had Enough.
So We had a Rousing Game of
Indoor Family Room Soccer,
Instead.
Wondering
What's Nacho Night?
Check Here, or Here or Here!
