Half Marathon-er

May 19, 2012

13.1 Miles

18 Days Before,
I was asked if I wanted a spot in a Sold Out
Full/Half Marathon, because someone had Decided not to Run it,
I had No Idea, if I could do it, but I thought I could Definitely Try!
Up to that Point, the Farthest I had gone was 9 Miles. Once.
I jumped on the last two weeks of a
Half Marathon Training Schedule,
and I Leapt up to 14 Miles-
(Once. T'weren't Pretty)
My Calves and Knees and
Shins and Toenails
Hated My Guts!
I Got out the Door More Diligently,
and I was Exhausted and Sore
and thought it was more than I could Possibly do
in such a short amount of time.
But,
I DID IT!

I Had Energy and Adrenalin
and a
Great Run!
And?
I Felt
Mighty Fantastic!

Four of My Favorite Parts:
1) Right at the Start, Someone Held up a Sign that said,
"You've Got This!"
and I got Tingles

2) at about Mile 8, I thought-
"Hmmm, this is Kind of Fun! Only Five More Miles!"

3) Seeing My Biggest Supporters/Fans as I Zero-ed in on the Finish Line!

and
4) Getting Emotional,
 because,
I DID It!

HOORAY JERALYN FRIEND!!! I'm SO proud of you!!! And of course you did it looking stellar and gorgeous--amazing!
I don't think I've ever had the "hmm, this is kind of fun" thoughts that you had, though. Nice work!
Look at the lady behind you in the picture that you wrote "I'm doing it" on. She's obviously not feeling the same thrill that you are! Funny!
Congrats again!

I started following you when I saw pictures of your kitchen re-do somewhere on the web. Love your blog! I ran the Ogden Half too and I SAW THAT SIGN and I loved it, so motivating!!! I felt great at mile 8 also, it was miles 11-13 that killed me lol! When I finished I swore up and down I would never do another one, but I already signed up for the Huntsville Half in September. Here we go again!!!! Congrats, it is quite an accomplishment: )

Random Question... do you recall the color you painted your hutch back in September or October of 2010? Way to go with the half marathon. Great accomplishment and example to many!!

Wow you're incredible - no idea how you manage to fit everything in - running, DIY, growing stuff and 3 kids to boot - I got dizzy just reading lol!
Well done on your first half marathon - and can I just say, I love your DIY /remodelling projects. You've definitely inspired me!

@ N and J Clinger- If You are referring to the green hutch, it is painted "Emerald Isle" by Valspar, if you mean the red hutch, it is "Spanish Tile" by Valspar.

And to Everyone- Thank You for all your encouragement, Kind words and Friendship! They always bring a smile to my face!
