Half Marathon-er

May 19, 2012

13.1 Miles

18 Days Before,
I was asked if I wanted a spot in a Sold Out
Full/Half Marathon, because someone had Decided not to Run it,
I had No Idea, if I could do it, but I thought I could Definitely Try!
Up to that Point, the Farthest I had gone was 9 Miles. Once.
I jumped on the last two weeks of a
Half Marathon Training Schedule,
and I Leapt up to 14 Miles-
(Once. T'weren't Pretty)
My Calves and Knees and
Shins and Toenails
Hated My Guts!
I Got out the Door More Diligently,
and I was Exhausted and Sore
and thought it was more than I could Possibly do
in such a short amount of time.
But,
I DID IT!

I Had Energy and Adrenalin
and a
Great Run!
And?
I Felt
Mighty Fantastic!

Four of My Favorite Parts:
1) Right at the Start, Someone Held up a Sign that said,
"You've Got This!"
and I got Tingles

2) at about Mile 8, I thought-
"Hmmm, this is Kind of Fun! Only Five More Miles!"

3) Seeing My Biggest Supporters/Fans as I Zero-ed in on the Finish Line!

and
4) Getting Emotional,
 because,
I DID It!

Mother's Day

Breakfast and Sweet Notes in Bed

And While Pa Cooked Up Some Dreamy Dinner,
I Spent Time with the Boys,
doing an Activity of Their Choice,
One on One.

First Eldest Child and I Went on a Walk.
He Talked Non-Stop about
the Earth and the Oceans.

And He made Me and Him
Matching Heart Bracelets
out of Legos!

Next,
I Played an Exciting Game of Basketball
with Middle Child.

He's Pretending to be Sad in this Picture,
'Cause I Kicked his 7yr. Old Trash.
No. Not Really.
I won, Only because he took it Easy on Me,
and Let Me Catch up to Him!
It was a Tough Game!

Youngest Child Wanted to Ride Bikes!

His Conversation While We Rode:
"Look, at that BIG Tree!"
"Look! There's an Ant Down There!"
"Look, a Flag for Where We Live!
We Live in There!
Do the Kansas City Chiefs live in America?
Do the Pittsburg Steelers?
Do those People across the Street live in America, too?
Does Everybody Live in America?
 is it Big?,
etc, etc, etc"

Aw, Sigh.
Highlights of a Wonderful Day.

Snacnic

I Got to go to a Mother's Day "Snacnic"
at the Park with 4yr. Old's Preschool.
They Sang,
then They Pulled Out the Snacks and Notes,
They had Brought to Share with their Moms.

J and I
Sat on our Blanket and Snacked away!
Then We Played and Played.
We Played till All the Other Kids and Parents were Gone,
then We Played Some More!
And We sat on a Bench,
And Counted to 10. Then 21.
Then We Leapt Over the Invisible Crocodiles
that had Us Surrounded,
and Walked Home.
And Picked Dandelions.
And Held Hands.
And I Loved it.
