We make a lot of S'mores.

The boys won a reward-

the reward?

Squirting Dad with squirt guns for 1 whole minute.

I think THAT was the longest minute of his life! 

-But the boys had the time of theirs!

On a Saturday morning,

while I was working on cleaning the garage,

(Dad and Eldest Boy were at Scout Camp)

these two brothers spent the morning

riding around and around in our Cul-de-sac.

I saw them lay down in the shade of our neighbor's tree,

and they were just laying there-

catching their breath,

cooling off in the shade,

and just talking and chilling with each other.

I snuck up on them and took this picture.

I love the Brother-ness here.

I had made a tin foil dinner

for our oldest boy to take to 

overnight Scout Camp-

And I made some for 

the rest of the gang, too.

We grilled them,

then ate them, sitting on our trampoline.

I received an Enthusiastic Thumbs Up!

Last of Day School

It's become Our "Thing" on the Last Day of School.

I take the boys for some Frozen Yogurt,

and We sit and talk about the past school year,

the next school year to come,

and make plans for the Summer!

Just Me and Them.

It was the last day of Kindergarten for J,

and so we spent the morning (he had afternoon Kindergarten)

playing games and doing what he wanted. 

I was quite sad inside, 

realizing that this was the last day we would spend, 

just him and me eating lunch, playing games, 

doing whatever we've been doing all these years 

while it was just the two of us and the brothers were at school.

We played game after game out in the warm sunshine, 

on our patio.

Then we came in,

and I asked him what he wanted for our last 

"Just You and Me" lunch at the counter.

He wanted Tostadas.

And as I sat next to him at the counter,

I wanted to memorize him,

his smell,

his hands, 

his soft checks,

and how these were moments,

I'd never get back.

When he was done,

I asked him how our last lunch was,

and he said

"It was Perfect".

And I cried inside.

WHY Do they have to Grow Up?
