A Farewell Fiesta

08.22.09
Millcreek Canyon
In a Farewell to

Our niece H,
who will be traveling to
Mother Russia,
for several months,
The T Family
spent the day enjoying the
cooler temperatures of the Canyon,
and being happy to
spend the day together,
where the fashion of the day
was:
{a dirty hindy}
the menu consisted of:

{fire-roasted favorites}

and the activities involved;

politics,

cooling our tootsies,

and indulging our sweet tooths.

I was highly flattered

when the 7 layer dip

I brought

looked like this

before we even got
lunch on the fire.
I kid you not.
Love you, H

Noting the Usual

{the other day}
B: "Mom, do you think I'm acting more usual than usual?"
Mom: "Huh?"

{while driving in the car, and referring to those little tabs they stick on the road before they paint it, to mark the lanes}
C: "Mom, why are there notes all over the road?"
Mom: "Notes?"
C: "Yah, notes, you know, like you write on?"
Then it clicked for me-
Yes, those do look like little yellow sticky notes, don't they.

The T Family

We had a great time
with the T Family
Saturday at their
new house!
Mr. T and Mr. T
were roommates at
college and it had
been SEVERAL
years since they had
seen each other.

looks like they have each
gained a few things
since their wild
and crazy days!
Funny thing.
The next day we
decided to go for a walk
in a place we had never been
not too close to home,
and who should we
meet on the same trail,
at the same time,
far from their home, too?
The T Family.
again.
and it was their first time there, too.

Blackberry Cobbler

If you have some of these:
{Blackberries}
Then you should
try this:

Blackberry Cobbler
4 cups Blackberries (fresh or frozen)
2 TBSP Lemon juice
Place berries in greased 8x8 pan
and sprinkle with lemon juice

In a bowl combine:
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 egg
Mix until crumbly- like corn meal
spread over top of berries
Melt
6 oz. butter (1 1/2 sticks)
and drizzle over top
Bake at 375
30-35 min.
Or until you can tell that
the crust is not gooey any longer.

Serve it warm,
with ice cream.

You'll Thank Me.

Love

When I went downstairs at 6AM,

I saw your empty,

unused dish on the counter,

and I had two thoughts.

One: "Oh, yah, I forgot to get some milk yesterday"

Two: "How sweet, he saw there was only drops

left and saved them for the kids"

Then I opened the fridge and saw:

So you had
snuck out the door at 5AM,
went down to the Mart on the corner,
purchased some milk,
quietly came back home,
and stuck it in my fridge,
and then left again
for work.
While I snoozed cosily,
in my bed.
That says somethin'.

Book Club

where we discussed reading

{which we all really liked}

Then we laughed and talked

about many other things,

and stayed way too late.

Oquirrh Mountain Temple

Open House
July 31, 2009

We have a new temple to serve our area!

We were able to go to the Open House with our family.

We're excited to be part of this Temple's area, and participate in the events that have come.We were able to write down a few things about what the Temple means to our family, and have it sealed in the cornerstone of the Temple and we've also had the opportunity to serve at the Temple during the Open House time. We enjoyed helping with Hospitality during the VIP week and just last week we were Ushers inside, helping to direct the flow of people.

We are grateful for the opportunities we've had to attend two recent Temple Open Houses in our area ( the Draper and the Oquirrh Mountain) and let our children see what it is like in the Temple.

During the Temple Open House anyone can go in and see what it is like. After the Open House is over, they re-clean and repair and make it perfect again (like if the carpet needs cleaned or the walls need touched up,etc.) then they dedicate the Temple. After the dedication, only members of the LDS church with Temple recommends may enter the Temple.

But if you've ever wondered what its like in the temple,
an Open House is the perfect time to go.

Two Facts about the Oquirrh Mountain Temple:
#1 It is the only Temple named after a Mountain
#2 Oquirrh is an Indian word meaning "Shining" or "Glowing",
so it is the "Shining"Mountain Temple
