Ragnar-ians

Wasatch Back Ragnar Relay
June 21-22, 2013
198 Miles
12 People
2 Vans
3 Legs Each
35 Exchanges
33 Hours
Run all Day
Run all Night
BEAST of a TEAM!

Scenes along the Way!

We Signed Up with a Team to do the Ragnar Relay,
and have been excited and working towards this time
for the last year!
Everyone worked hard to get us to the Finish,
running around the clock for the 33 hours it took us to get there,
through the heat, the hurt, and the lack of sleep!
Those of us who did the night runs, agreed that those runs,
in the middle of the night, were our absolute favorite legs!
As we crept closer to the finish,
we were pretty certain that THIS was something
We NEVER wanted to do again!
But?
The next day,
we were jumping at the chance to Re-Enlist!
Can't Wait!
PS Like the Shirts I Designed for our Team?
I Loved Seeing them in Action!

06.25.13

Tootsie-Schnoots found some Cookie Cutters
while we were unpacking,
and thought him and Mom should take a break
from un-boxing and make some Cookies!
And since they were Christmas cookie cutters,
of course we had to add Frosting and Sprinkles!
I let him do as he wanted,
and when they were done,
he was very adamant that we not eat ANY
(much to my dismay)
until the Brothers were home from school,
so he could surprise them!

Father's Day

Immediately Following Move-In Day
was Father's Day!

Somehow,
I was able to keep track of My Father's Day Purchases over the Move,
and We were able to Shower our Favorite KC Chief's Fan
with Some Chief's Gear for his new Truck,
Followed by Breakfast on the Deck!
[Eh-hem, mostly due to the fact,
that Beds had not been set up,
and the table and chairs had been purchased
by the Buyer of our Home]

We were also able to have Pa-in-Law for Dinner!

The Man I Married,
sure makes the World's Best Dad!
I've never known a Man who wants to be with his kids
and involved in their lives,
as much as He does!
He loves to spend time with them, and do one on one things with them!
He's Silly, He's Rough and Tumble, and He's Affectionate.
He wants to teach them life skills,
and help them improve their talents.
He loves to talk with them,
and let them know He absolutely Loves them!
We sure are Lucky to have Him!

Moving

After We Listed our House,
[See This Post]
and Showed it Like Crazy for a Week,
It was Under Contract!
So Between and Around
Soccer and Scouts and Running and School, and Karate,
and Church Duties, and the Crazy things that make Life,
We packed up and Moved on Out!
We were able to Squeeze in One more
Outside Movie Night for the Neighborhood
and We then We were Outta There!
Can We all agree that Moving is Exhausting?!
Maybe it was because we live about 10 Miles from where we are moving,
so we made a Gazillion small loads for several days,
and several late nights,
 instead of One Ginormous Load!
Thus, We've Declared that We are Never Moving, Again!
[I'm already envisioning Back Yard Prom Date Dinners,
Wedding Receptions, and Grand kids!]

PS
I do have a Remodel of the New Home in Mind/Coming Up,
and a Big Stash of Furniture I've been Collecting to Re-Do,
so if that's what strikes your interest,
stick around!

1000th Mile

06.01.13
Ran My 1000th Mile!
From Someone who didn't start Running,
until after she was Old and had 3 Kids,
and who had never liked running,
Even uttered many times the phrase,
"I Hate Running!",
it was a Milestone of a Run!
It's a Goal that I've been working on for a
Long, Loooonnng Time!
It started with 2 mile runs,
then 3 mile runs,
and eventually all the way to 26.2 Miles!
All I had to do was keep getting out there,
and keep putting One Foot in front of the Other,
Over and Over,
and Over.

Dance Recital

I've been part of a Ladies Dance Class,
the last couple of years,
and one of the understood conditions of being part of the Class,
is that You WILL Perform in the Spring Recital!

I think the Spouse is always surprised to see
that even though its a Dance Class
for Old Haggard Ladies,
Like Myself,
We learn difficult routines,
We Practice Hard,
and We Bring It to Recital!

Graduation

Of the Pre-Schooler!
Watch Out World,
Here He Comes!

....And that Wraps it up for Us!
We've run out of Hooligans to send Miss Shannon!
She's taught all our Crew over the Years,
and We think she's done Us an Absolute Wonderful Service!

The Rainy Half Marathon

05.18.2013

What started out as a constant drizzle as we loaded the buses at 4:30 am and waited for the Race Start, turned into a downpour about 10mins before Start Time! Fortunately, my running partner had grabbed trash sacks for us, and I joined all the other trash sack poncho wearing runners and sacked up! I tend to get rather warm while running, so I ditched all the long clothes and jackets and went for lighter clothes, planning on the body heat the bag would generate to keep me warm- and it worked great! I was warm and ready to ditch the bag at mile 4, so I tore off some of the bag, wrapped it around my phone in my arm band, and trashed the sack. Even though it continued to rain the ENTIRE time, and I was completely Soggy from head to toe, I was comfortably warm enough- uh, except my hands- they were Freezing!
My body felt great, I had good energy, and if the energry started to wane a little, I just reminded myself of the dry, warm clothes waiting at the finish! I was actually amazed about how wet a body can get, and it doesn't seem to bother it a bit- it doesn't rust or leak- the water just keeps rolling off that wonder of a water-proof thing we call our bodies!
The only time I felt like I was freezing and started shivering really bad,
was at the end, when I stopped running and had to stand in line to get those warm clothes!
And,
Of Course,
Seeing My Biggest Fans standing in the Rain at the Finish,
was a Wonderful sight!
Knowing that they're there waiting for Me,
always makes Me want to Hurry and finish Strong!
Definitely wasn't my fastest Half Marathon time,
but I had such a blast,
I really hardly noticed!
That was Fun!

Garden:

Planted.

We were able to go over to our New House,
and Plant the Garden Boxes,
So, when we moved in,
they'd be in Full Growing Mode!
